What sexual assault means
Sexual assault includes unwanted sexual touching, coercion, or other sexual conduct that a person did not freely agree to.

Consent
Consent is a clear, voluntary, and ongoing agreement to take part in sexual activity. It can be withdrawn at any time. Silence, freezing, or being unable to respond is not consent.
Someone who is asleep, unconscious, heavily intoxicated, or otherwise unable to decide freely cannot give consent.
Impact on survivors
Survivors may experience fear, shame, anger, numbness, sleep problems, or difficulty trusting others. Reactions differ. There is no single right way to respond.
